The Nuggets against the Cavs. Two teams that are hot as heck right at the start of the New Year. However, there is one key difference between these two teams. One of them has a pretty clear MVP front-runner for the third year in a row.
The Cavaliers are a solid opponent. They do have Donovan Mitchell, who apparently channeled Kobe Bryant on the second to score 71 points against the Bulls. But as cool as that is, there is no way that he is doing that again this season. The Nuggets have too strong of a defense to allow that to happen. Also, up until they played the Bulls twice, this team was on a three-game losing streak, with the final loss of that streak coming up against the Indiana freaking Pacers. So that’s not a great look.
The Nuggets on the other hand, have been smoking hot. Out of their last nine games, they have won seven of them. All while, Jokic has been showing why voters should give him a threepeat in the MVP category. The man has been averaging 25.6 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, 9.5 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game. This is when I would like to share with the audience that that stat line is about 0.5 assists away from being a triple-double per game. The Joker is simply a man playing a boy’s game, or at least that’s what it looks like out on the court. Not to mention the help he gets this season from Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray, who are both putting in solid efforts to make the all-star game.
I may not be able to predict the future, but I feel incredibly safe predicting that the Nuggets are going to win against the Cavs Friday. So bet on the Nuggets moneyline and get an extra $200 from SI.
