Wow that first leg did not go how I, or anyone else expected it to. After an early goal for Manchester City, nothing much happened until late in the second half when they really poured it on, scoring two more goals so the match ended 3-0. That being said, they have another matchup for all of the glory, and here is what you need to know.
So, yeah, City is legit. Despite some struggles in the Premier League which is currently led by Arsenal, in the UCL this team has been almost unstoppable. Mr. Haaland continues to show he is the best striker in the world, maybe the best player all around. If he’s not scoring, he’s assisting, and in the first leg against Bayern he was able to do both. Despite not having the lion’s share of possession, City was able to get five more shots on net, and despite Bayern having some opportunities, they just could not capitalize. It seems like firing Nagelsmann was a bad idea as Tuchel likes to slow it down which eliminates the rapid counterattack which was one of the strongest points of the German Giants game. City seems like they’re doing everything right, but the big question is how will they play this next fixture which is away in Munich.
So the Germans laid a stinker. Tensions are running high and it seems like the locker room is a mess. They drew to freaking Hoffenheim the game after for goodness’ sake. While Manchester seems to get better as the season goes on, it looks like the opposite is true for Bayern. So all of this being said, I’m going to contradict all logic and say I think they can win this next game. I do NOT think they will be able to advance to the next round of the Champions League, but I think City will park the bus and slow the game down, allowing for Bayern to get in their formation and put some balls on the net. They seriously need a bounce back game, and with an offense led by Sane and Mane with the veteran Muller as an anchor I like their chances. City does not need to win this game to advance, and I think they’ll be okay with Bayern winning by a goal or two.
Call me crazy but even after the disaster last game I think Bayern can win this next game. Bet on Bayern Munich with a $5 Moneyline bet & get $150 back if you pick the winner!
