What to say about Kansas against Missouri State. Well, one of these college programs plays in the Big 12 while the other plays in the MVFC. I’m not saying those conferences have some differences in difficulty to compete in, but uh….well one does create more NFL draft prospects than the other. But honestly when it comes to conferences who even cares anymore? Everyone is jumping around conferences this offseason like they’re playing musical chairs at a homecoming rally so who knows where anyone is anymore. All I know is that Kansas has played against some really solid college teams and Missouri State, well they have too but they get blown out.
Missouri State played only one ranked team last year which was Arkansas. And before you ask yes, they did lose, but they only lost by 11 points which honestly, is pretty solid. Especially considering Arkansas beat ranked teams like Ole Miss by 15 last season. In fact, Kansas also lost to Arkansas last season. However, their loss was a two-point overtime thriller in the Liberty Bowl game so I guess technically the loss was under different circumstances. However as I was saying when it comes to conferences like the MVFC, Missouri State always does pretty well for itself, they won both their first two and last two games of last season while putting up some solid counting stats. Counting stats like the 2600 passing yards Quarterback Jason Shelley put up.
Kansas is the better of the two teams though, I want to make sure it isn’t twisted. Yes, maybe the Jayhawks basketball program is slightly better than their football one but let’s not pretend this game isn’t just to make Kansas look good before their real season starts. Kansas is used to playing teams like TCU and Texas, so they aren’t going to be worried about this game. Now that mindset can go against them, as I’m sure it has many a team in the past. But ultimately if your quarterbacks are putting up 3,300 combined yards, and your top runningback has secured more than 1,000 rushing yards against some of the best of the best in college football then I don’t know what Missouri State hopes to do.
Kansas is the better team, but anything can happen on opening weekend. Bet on either team and get your extra $200 in bet credits.
